Collecting music recordings can be an expensive hobby, and I find it important
to research them before purchasing. The internet provides information that
helps to select the right ones, and my favourite site is Gramophone
magazine's.

The BBC created and supports several orchestras, and I have enjoyed the
BBC National Orchestra of Wales for many years, since it was called the BBC
Welsh Symphony Orchestra. It is now also supported by Sianel Pedwar Cymru
(S4C), the Welsh language television channel, and the Welsh Arts Council.
Some local industries also associate themselves with the orchestra, for
instance Panasonic which subsidised a highly successful tour of Japan in
1995. BBC Radio 3 regularly broadcasts BBC NOW concerts, which are
recorded both in BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff and on tour.
My personal favourites amongst their recordings are those of Rachmaninov's
symphonies and piano concertos in a Nimbus boxed set, conducted by Tadaaki
Otaka, with John Lill in the piano concertos. Also, Elgar's 2 symphonies and
Anthony Payne's marvellous realisation of the third are on the Chandos
(SACD) label conducted by Richard Hickox, in excellent surround sound.

For my piano scores I like to explore the internet for free downloads. My
favourite site can be reached via the graphic below.
I have recorded more than two hours of well-loved piano music. None of it will
ever be heard outside Brynheulog and so it can remain well-loved.
